Make a Plan

Create a Preparedness Plan

Preventing loss of life and minimizing property damage caused by hurricanes is a responsibility shared by us all.

Disaster Prevention Should Include:

Developing a Family Plan - Your family's plan should be based on your area's vulnerability to Hurricanes and associated hazards. You should keep a copy of your plan and be sure to distribute your plan to family and friends.

Creating a Disaster Supply Kit - There are a number of items necessary to have regardless of where you decide to ride out a hurricane. A Disaster Supply Kit is an extremely useful tool during evacuation.

Having a Place to Go - Create a network of family and friends before a storm threatens. Be sure to know where you're going during evacuation to prevent last-minute delays.

Preparing Your Home - Make your home and neighborhood more secure and better able to withstand stronger storms.

Having a Pet Plan - Pets are family too! Contact your veterinarian or local humane society for information on preparing your pets for an emergency.
