HELP! - Healing Emotionally, Living Productively, was founded in 2001 by Rebecca
Chandler. The foundation was established in 2001 with its primary focus being those
victimized by abuse and social stigma. The HELP! Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to enabling poor, unemployed and under-employed people to become self-sufficient. A variety of leading-edge social and economic approaches are taken to this goal in areas such as policy development, program management, information exchange, capacity building, public education and research. Above all, HELP! is a catalyst that shows possibilities to individuals. The foundation assists in developing the tools they need to make it happen so that they can achieve their goals in a self-sufficient manner.
Every aspect of HELP! is rooted in the community. The foundation works hand
in hand with non-profit groups and businesses across the country to design,
manage, test and deliver the necessary programs and services. These efforts
are made possible with generous funding from corporations, foundations,
government entities, and caring individuals.
The HELP! goal is to charter chapters in every state in union, then across the globe as well. Most of the work is conducted in North America; however, there are hopes to continue exploration of new opportunities to share aptitudes and experience internationally. The foundation's achievements over the years stem from a team of outstanding staff and volunteers housed in the International Headquarters located in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The work has changed dramatically since inception in 2001, in tandem with changing social and economic needs, but the vision and commitment remain the same. Whether it's developing resources for people with disabilities, showing low-income parents how they can go back to school, helping people achieve homeownership or aiding a women's group in reaching out to more people. The HELP! Foundation allows Americans to realize the possibilities.
